The Railways have hiked the food tariffs in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto express from today. With the introduction of new menus and revised tariffs, passengers will now have to pay more for travel in Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto express trains from Thursday.

Those who have booked their tickets prior to the issuance of the official circular will have to pay the difference in catering charges to the TTE. The total increase has actually gone up by 5% to 7% for travel in these premier trains, since meals form part of the ticket. Some of the items have been removed from the plate. Because of this the cost of breakfast has been brought down by up to 40% but lunch and dinner rates have been hiked by 50%-60%.
