Clean India Day serves to bring awareness and focus to the adoption, and action towards cleanliness in India, by citizens, organizations, and governments, in and of India.
The day is marked by, a reminder of our civic behavior and duties as citizens across India, as well as the aspiration of 1.2 billion Indians, and, expectations of good quality of life, citizens charter, governments --
Towards clean public spaces, streets, and pristine blue lakes and rivers,no to filth and open dumping grounds anywhere the eye can see, in any village, town, or city, of our beautiful country, no to none or overflowing sewers, no toilets, for 600 million Indians, no to heaps of garbage and stink in the ponds outside any village, town, or city.
This year, on October 25, Friday, 2013, the Youth Health Movement, Cancer Institute(WIA),Adyar & associated organizations are doing a massive cleanup at Valluvar Kottam.
Youth Health Clubs of various colleges & schools are joining in to Remove the Litter, Planting saplings & Naming the Variety of Species of Trees found in the premises.
Simultaneously Colleges, Schools & Communities are conducting various awareness activities to mark the event under the banner of the Youth Health Movement.
Clean India Day is an open source, citizen and crowd-sourcing initiative, of the Come, Clean India campaign.
