Tamilnadu State Highways Department has sanctioned Rs.168 crore and the land acquisition work started to proceed with the Chennai-Tirutani-Renigunta road to make it a 6 lane highway. The Padi-Thiruninravur road of 22 km stretch that passes through the Ambattur Industrial estate is to be widened as 6 lane highway.
According to the G.O, since the traffic intensity is more than one lakh passenger cars the widening is a much necessary one. For this widening, minimum 30 meter width is needed and hence land acquisition is unavoidable which will take more than one year.
The pilgrims from Chennai to Thirupati and Tiruttani use this CTH road which is one of the national highways.
