Storm water drains in Chennai collapsed

On Monday due to the heavy water flow more than 242 spots in Chennai were overwhelmed and many storm water drains under working process collapsed. Especially the work for metro rail near Egmore after the Gengu Reddy subway suffered and work was suspended for more than three hours.
To correct the situation from water stagnation, more than 74 pump sets were used and nearly 14 trees were uprooted in Thiru-vi-ka Nagar, Anna Nagar, Teynampet, Kodambakkam and Adyar areas. Chennai Corporation has decided to construct 33 night shelters in addition to the 23 existing ones.
