The first unit of Kudankulam reactor is scheduled to begin its operation with its full capacity of thousand mega watts. This is expected to generate about 1440 MW power which is a huge part of the entire power generated in the country.
It is also to be noted that with the functioning of this plant, Tamil Nadu becomes the only state with two nuclear power plants. Further to a huge delay, the Kudankulam plant started producing 160 MW power to the southern grid.
