The Chennai Corporation Mayor Saidai Duraisamy inaugurated the distribution of nilavembu kudineer (juice of a particular neem tree) at all Corporation hospitals free of cost at a function in Ripon Buildings on Monday.
The Nilavembu gardener will be supplied to 84 primary health centers, six laboratories and 110 family welfare centers in the city as a preventive measure for dengue. The herbal drink will be given to children aged under 10 only on the advice of doctors.
Others will get 50 ml of the herbal drink four times a day for the first three days of the fever. The dosage will be reduced by half over the next four days. Medicines prescribed by the doctor will also be administered to patients simultaneously.
The civic body will also supply packets of the herbal powder to residents free of cost at all these centres.
