Corporation of Chennai is planning to screen at least three lakh residents for ailments. Healthcare workers will soon fan out to 1,000 locations from November 26, which is the centenary day of Ripon Buildings, the corporation headquarters.

A senior corporation official said they would conduct a meeting with medical experts from government and corporation hospitals on Friday. “This will be the largest-ever medical camp. We also plan to conduct camps for a week in some disease-prone neighbourhoods. We will also set up mobile medical units on streets and slums to conduct check-ups. This will help senior citizens who are unable to visit hospitals for treatment,” said an official. People will be tested for hypertension, diabetes, respiratory problems, skin infections and stomach disorders. Health experts said the medical camp would help the civic body create a health map of the city, and check the spread of diseases.
