Closure of TASMAC shops on Pongal

In the upcoming year – 2014, sales of liquor is likely to be affected during Pongal time. Usually, during Diwail, New year and Pongal, these shops will have more sales and would yield an additional profit of the range twenty to fifty crores. But, this year, Milad-UN-Nabi falls on the same Pongal day - 14th January, it is also. On this auspicious day for Muslims, all TASMAC shops will remain closed. In addition, the very next day - 15th January is “Thiruvalluvar day” and hence, the shops will remain closed again.
