First stage of registration for Aadhar Card gets completed on 31st December

The photographing session for the Aadhar cards was commenced during November, 2012. The census board and the Chennai Corporation have been jointly looking after this registration. The applicants’ photographs, fingerprints, and eyeballs are being registered on the computer.

So far, 4,70,12,500 persons have registered with photographs. This constitutes 69.73% of Tamil Nadu population. 70% people have registered in 20 districts. In another 10 districts, 60 to 70 % people have applied. 

21,73,000 have registered in Chennai district. This is about 52.32%. Another 19 Lakhs are still to register in Chennai district. Registration is being carried out in 45 wards in Chennai. Arrangements have been made for registration for the whole week. The first stage is expected to be completed by December 3rd. People who have moved from their previous residences and who have not registered so far have also applied in thousands. Registration for these applications will be done during January, 2014.

Aadhar  card have been distributed since 3,37,5044 persons. Plans are underway to issue these cards for those who have registered. Mr. Krishna Rao, Joint director, Census, shared this information.
