The Thiruvanamalai Arulmigu Arunachaleswarar Temple, has celebrated the Karthigai Deepam festival last month. Approximately 20 lakhs devotees participated in the festival. In this temple, for every month there is a practice of counting the ritual offer money in the hundi which is placed in the temple and in the pathway of Girivalam area, once after the full moon day.
Accordingly, in Thirukalyana Mandapam, inside the Annamalaiyar temple
campus, last month Karthigai Deepam hundi counting work was started. This
counting work was initiated in front of the Temple Joint commissioner, Mrs.Thirumagal
and Assistant Commissioner, Mr. Prakaash.
Many school students are also included in the counting work. For the first day on day before yesterday, the yielded grants were about one lakh twenty thousand rupees and 1290 gram gold and 625 gram silver. In specific, around 600 gram gold is given by a single devotee.
For the second day on yesterday, the yielded grants were about 57 Lakh and eight thousand rupees and 73 gram gold and 380 gram silver. In total, the grant collected is about 1 crore 59 Lakh 29 thousand and 451 rupees. Last year Rs. 1,32,76,118 was collected from the hundi during karthigai D Deepam celebration. This year the fund offer is Rs. 25, 53,333 more than last year.
