It has been decided by the Indian Railways to run premium air-conditioned trains during the Christmas and New Year season. But one will have to pay for the ticket on an incremental basis, depending upon the demand.
Introducing the scheme on an experimental basis, the railways have chosen the busy Delhi-Mumbai route, keeping in view the cash worthiness of the travelling class. The railways intend to run four trains to Mumbai while only three return journeys have been arranged.
Tickets for the trains, which will only have AC II and AC III coaches, will be available starting Saturday and can be booked only on the IRCTC’s ticketing website.
