The price of Tomato has very much descent in Chennai. Tomato is selling at the rate of Rs.10 per Kilo. For Chennai Koyambedu market, vegetables are transported daily via huge lorries for sale from various areas like Andra, Kerala and other cities in TamilNadu.
Due to low flow of transporting vegetables, last September
tomato costs high at the rate of Rs.40 per Kilo. The flow is slightly higher
now and hence the price is getting descent. On its continuation, in Koyambedu
market, the first grade tomato is selling at the rate of Rs.12 and the second
grade tomato is at the rate of Rs. 10.
On behalf of the low price of tomato, the Koyambedu market
Merchants Committee Adviser, Saundararjan states that: For the last week the flow of tomato is
nearly 40 Ton. But now we are getting more flow from UdumalPet, Ottanchatiram
and Dindukal. Hence the flow got increased to 60 to 70 Ton.
