The Chennai Corporation at a meeting organized at Ripon Buildings on Tuesday decided to divert traffic on 300-metre stretches on each of the bus route roads to be concretized.
The Chennai Corporation submitted the list of roads to the police to plan traffic diversions during the implementation of the work. Representatives of the traffic police, BSNL, Metrowater and Tangedco were present at the meeting.
Peters Road, Swami Sivananda Salai, Velachery Main Road, Sterling Road, Valluvar Kottam High Road, New Avadi Road, Purasawalkam High Road, Kathivakkam High Road, Tiruvottiyur High Road, Tondiarpet High Road, Greams Road and Walajah Road are among the 66 roads on the Chennai Corporation’s list for concrete bus routes in the first phase.
Estimates for concretisation of a total length of 41.39 km have already been prepared for Rs. 78.22 crore. A total of 66 bus routes covering 50 km will be developed in this phase, connecting zones such as Adyar, Teynampet, Tondiarpet, Royapuram, Anna Nagar, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar and Kodambakkam.
