Chennai police has announced traffic diversions in the city on January 20, 22, 24 and 26 during rehearsals for Republic Day celebrations.
The stretch of Dr Radhakrishnan Salai from Dr Natesan Road Junction up to Gandhi statue will be closed. The stretch of Kamarajar Salai from Light House to War Memorial will be closed to vehicular traffic from 6am till the rehearsals are over.
Vehicles coming from north Chennai towards Mylapore and Adyar will take Anna Salai, Pattulos Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Royapettah flyover and R K Mutt Road, Adyar. Vehicles from south will take the reverse direction. No vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr Radhakrishnan Salai and Dr Natesan Road Junction towards Gandhi Statue. These vehicles will be diverted towards Dr Natesan Road. No Vehicle will be allowed beyond Dr Natesan Road and Avvai Shanmugam Salai Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. These vehicles will be diverted towards Ice House Junction.
Vehicle will not be permitted beyond Dr Besant Road Kamarajar Salai Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. These vehicles will be diverted at Dr Besant Road Rountana towards Ice House Junction.The road beyond Bharathi Salai - Bells Road Junction towards Kamarajar Salai will also remain out of bounds for vehicles which will have to take Bells Road.
Vehicle will be stopped at Wallajah Road - Bells Road Junction (except MTC buses) towards Kamarajar Salai and diverted towards Bells Road. MTC buses will be allowed up to Canal Bank Road Junction. The Anna Square bus terminus will be temporarily operated on Wallajah Road near Government Guest House. No vehicle will be allowed from Wallajah Point towards War Memorial.
