Text books of all subjects have been divided into 2 sections.Announcement regarding Board Exam is expected after the budget meeting.
The Common Education Board was created in 2008 abolishing the previous 3 formats of Matriculation,
Anglo-Indian Board, and State Government syllabus. The uniform Education system was
introduced. Later, trimester system was proposed. It was introduced from 2009
from 1st Std to 8th Std. It was to be introduced
subsequently for 9th & 10th Std. Accordingly, trimester system will be adopted
for 9th Std. from this year. There was some confusion whether it
will be introduced in 10th Std. next year. However, the books are to
be published in 3 sections as per trimester requirement.
The books have been
prepared and submitted for government approval. The books will be in 2
sections. The first secton will cover Tamil and English. The second section
will cover Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
It is not clear whether there will board examination for 10th Std.The majority of teachers has objected to the introduction of trimester system. They have raised doubts regarding the assessment/correction process. It would be extremely difficult to conduct 3 examinations in one year for 10 Lakh students.Clarity is expected to emerge after the budget meeting.
