Tamil Nadu Handicraft Development Corporation Limited – Poompuhar has organized ‘Sirpangal’, an exclusive exhibition of bronze idols, wood carving and stone sculpture. The exhibition was inaugurated by Minister for Rural Industries P Mohan, in the presence of Sheela Rani Chunkath, Additional Chief Secretary/Chairperson and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd., Chennai, and Harmander Singh, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Handicrafts, Textiles and Khadi Department.
 
The main objective of the Handicrafts Corporation is to preserve the ancient crafts of Tamil Nadu and uplift the standard of living of the craftsmen by providing marketing opportunities to them. The Corporation achieves the objective by marketing the products of the craftsmen through its large network of 14 showrooms situated all across Tamil Nadu and also in New Delhi, Kolkata and Bengaluru.

 As part of the programme, Poompuhar is now showcasing bronze idols, wood carving and stone sculpture from February 7-20 (including Sundays) at Sankara Hall, Alwarpet.
 
A grand collection of statues in bronze, brass, sandalwood, rosewood, white wood, country wood, gem stone, granite stone, terracotta, clay, papier mache, black and white metal, Vellerrukku, Chennapatana, Kondapalli wooden figurines, marble stone and marble dust are kept for sale.
 
The bronze idols specially sculptured for the exhibition at Swamimalai and brought here for sale include Ranganathar set, Belur Krishnar, Lakshmi standing, Natarajar, Chandrasekar, Siddhi Buddhi Vinayagar, Rishabadevar, Siva Rudhrathandavam, Chennakesava Perumal, Vinayagar, Nadana Vinayagar, Nadana Saraswathy, 32 varieties of Vinayagar set, Ramar set, Perumal set, Mariamman, Vinayagar sitting, rosewood Vinayagar, rosewood Natarajar and rosewood Radhakrishnar.
 
A special discount of 10 per cent is being offered on all items sold at the exhibition, which will be open from 10 am to 8 pm daily.
