Extensive and easy approached footpaths for all bus routes in Chennai, promised by Chennai Corporation.
In Chennai, all the bus routes will get
redesigned alleyway before the Lok Sabha Election this year, is the decision
taken at the meeting of Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority’s
(CUMTA) sub-committee.On Tuesday, Chennai Corporation has rendered the
short-term bids to furnish work on 41 footpaths. In the mean while, works for
55 footpaths roads have been carrying out now.
As of now, many of the existing footpaths
were out-of-the-way for persons with disabilities and for senior citizens. Most
of the redesign of the footpaths would be based on the topographic survey of
bus routes and each of them will be 2.5 meters wide.The drive of infringement
removal on footpaths will be engaged by 15 zonal officials weekly, declared by
civic higher official.
First phase have been
carried out in the eight zones including: Thiru-vi-ka Nagar, Anna Nagar,
Tandayarpet, Rayapuram, Tenampet, Kodampakam, Alandur and Adayar. Prime roads
wrapped in the first phase of work include Pantheon Road, Police Commissioner
Office Road and Gandhi Irwin Road.
Chennai Corporation has
dispatched Rs.47.22 Crores for jerking electricity cables and junction boxes
from 36 roads.
