Chennai Corporation to cancel trade licenses of printers

The reported removal of a number of banners ranging from 50 to 9 Chennai Corporation held a meeting with representatives of political parties and printers to curb illegal hoardings and banners in the city.The civic body continued to remove illegal hoardings and banners on many roads including NSC Bose Road, Anna Salai, Poonamallee High Road, Vepery High Road and Tondiarpet High Road. Discipline has to be brought in before the Lok Sabha election,” said a Corporation official.
The Corporation has already decided to cancel trade licences of printers who help erect illegal hoardings in the city. “Officials of the 15 zones will initiate measures to cancel the trade licences. But the zonal level officials will be unable to control illegal hoardings without cooperation from political parties and printers,” said a civic official.
