Chennai Corporation to open Amma cinema theatres

On Wednesday, the Chennai Corporation presented a tax-free budget of Rs 4,200 crore for the 2014-15 financial year.
 
Mayor Saidai S Duraisamy announced the corporation would open Amma cinema theatres in the city. The theatres would screen Kollywood movies in subsidized rates.
 
The civic body has proposed to introduce 20-litre Amma Mineral Water can for the residents. The corporation will also start weekly markets in each ward.
 
The mayor said the civic body would start 40 shelters for women and transgender people.
 
It will open residential schools for Class 6 to Class 12 students. The civic body will make registration of nursery schools mandatory.
 
He said all street names would all non-Indian street names would be changed to Indian names.
 
The corporation would open chicken processing centres and pig slaughter houses. The civic body will take up one ward in each zone as insecticide-free on a pilot basis.
 
It will install CCTV cameras in all subways in the city. Waste to energy project will be introduced in each zone. The civic body will commence a tree census and would open 100 new parks.
 
As many as 50,000 rain water harvesting system will be built. Feasibly study for grade separators at Velachery main road, 100 feet road and five furlong road will be taken up.
 
Integrated file tracking system will be introduced to avoid the delay and contract details of works will be displayed on its website. Plans of old buildings will available on its website.
