New patrol system for Police – CM flags off

The new patrol system for the Chennai Metro Police was flagged off by the Chief Minister. She also flagged off 403 renovated patrol vehicles.

Police Department has a big responsibility to maintain law and order and peace in the city. Several projects such as formation of new police stations, building self-owned police stations, and procurement of new patrol vehicles have been undertaken to strengthen the Police Department.

There are 135 police stations in Chennai Metro. These have been divided into ¾ groups and a new patrol system is being introduced. The patrol police will ride on 2-wheelers. They will gather intelligence, improve public relations, and will attend law and order problems immediately.

403 patrol sections have been formed in Chennai Metro. 3 Policemen will be on duty throughout 24 hours on rotational shift.

The new patrol system, the specially designed new uniforms, helmets, microphone systems, LED lights and other equipment were released by the Chief Minister. Senior government officials participated.
