CCTVs to be installed in Chennai subways

Chennai Mayor Saidai Duraisamy during the budget speech announced that CCTV cameras would be installed in subways to ensure safety of pedestrians, especially women.
Although Chennai is considered relatively safe compared to other metros, several of the city`s arterial stretches and subways are deserted at night. Women who frequent these stretches say they are often harassed by drunks.Welcoming the Corporation`s decision, women commuters said there should be additional security for them in these subways at night.
