Subsidy for solar-power water pumps

Here is a good news for all farmers planning to install solar-powered water pump system for irrigation. The department of agricultural engineering has derived a new scheme in which 80 per cent subsidy will be availed for solar water pumps with 5 HP capacities. The department has 2 criteria for availing the subsidy. Below are they:
- Bore well with 6 inch diameter and 300 feet depth should be installed
- Drip or sprinkler system should be installed
The overall cost for implementing this system is 4.39 lakh. Out of this, the government would provide 3.35 lakh. The farmer will have to spend the rest of 1.04 lakh from his pockets. It is to be ensured that there is a shadow-free space available by side of bore well; its necessary for the efficient functioning of water pumping system. It is to be noted that companies that supply such solar-powered water pumping system will provide free maintenance to these units for a 5 year period.
