Foundation for Ennore Thermal Power Station laid by Chief Minister

The government has taken several important steps to overcome the power shortage and to attain self-sufficiency in power generation.

The Chef Minister had announced that a 600 MW plant will be installed at the Ennore thermal power station extension on 29th March, 2012. This power plant will have super-critical technology when the coal burning conversion efficiency will be higher.

Approval was given on 30th March, 2012 for this project. The project was finalized after due approval from the Environment Board and other authorities. The 600 MW extension at Ennore Thermal Power Station in Thiruvallur district will be erected at a cost of Rs. 4,995 Crores.

The contract was assigned to Infrtech, a company from Gurgaon, Haryana. This is the first super thermal power plant in Tamil Nadu. Foundation Stone was laid on 28th February by the Chief Minister. The Chief Minster also handed over the contact order to Infratech.
