For the grand conduct of the five-day annual Theppotsavams (Float festival) of Lord Venkateswara scheduled from March 12, elaborate arrangements are in place.
In connection with the festival the temple management has readied a two-tier wooden flotilla with a high-rise pedestal in the centre. The processional deities of Lord Malayappa swamy and his two divine consorts will be seated atop the altar and dragged in the tank waters on all the festival days during the nightfall. Works relating to the painting, illumination and beautification of the flotilla have been completed.
The management has roped in expert swimmers to be deployed at the temple tank during the festival period. Huge electrical cut outs depicting various images of Lord Venkateswara and Maha Vishnu have been erected at the venue to add to the grandeur of the colourful festival. Exclusive entry and exit points have been earmarked for the benefit of the devotees. In addition to these, the temple management also organised a trial-run of the flotilla to ascertain the defects if any.
