For the last few months, Airports Authority of India have been receiving several complaints from passengers and taxi drivers saying the time allowed for free entry and exit was less. They also say the congestion on the flyover in front of the airport’s new terminals forced people to pay parking charges as they are unable to drive out of within five minutes.
The system was introduced as taxis took long to exit the airport after dropping passengers. The system also became inconvenient for passengers who used taxis as drivers used to rush passengers into getting out and taking out bags quickly to drive out in five minutes. Taxi services charged passengers a parking fee of Rs 70 saying drivers would not be able to drive out of the airport in five minutes.
Giving heed to the complaints, the Airports Authority of India has decided to extend the free parking time by 10 minutes
