Two more Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) trains arrived Chennai from Alstom`s La Pa factory, Brazil. These two trains will be shifted to the Koyambedu depot upon consums clearance. With this, 7 such trains have arrived from Alstom’s factory, Brazil. To note, the company got into a contract worth Rs 1471.3 crore for design and manufacture of 42 four-car trains. Out of 42, four of them were manufactured in Brazil. The remaining numbers will be manufactured at the new factory set up at Sri City that is located in Andhra Pradesh, 55km away from Chennai.
This Indian factory is already done with manufacturing two such trains and has brought it to the Koyambedu metro rail depot. Nearly sixty Indian employees were sent to Brazil for getting trained and gain knowledge about how to meet the requirement of CMRL. The CMBT to Ashok Nagar route will commence the operation of the metro rail manufactured at Brazil. Remaining trains will be tested soon.
