Admissions in 723 unapproved schools cancelled – Students to be transferred to other schools

Admissions in 723 schools without government approval for the new academic year stand cancelled. The primary education board is taking action to transfer the students of these 723 schools to other schools.

There are 23,522 government primary schools and 5,071 government aided schools for a total of 34,871 schools. There are 6,278 private primary schools and kindergarten schools.

All primary, middle, and high schools must have government approval. Initially, temporary approval will be given for 2 years. If the stipulated regulations are not conformed by the school within 3 years, additional 3 more years will be given to rectify the problems. If all the regulations are conformed within 6 years, government approval will be given.

The government approval will be reviewed once in every 5 years.

Government order to director

The state government has ordered the Director of Primary Education to take action on all primary schools and kindergartens operating without government approval.
1,296 primary schools and kindergartens were identified to be operating without government approval. The director of primary education issued orders to the district primary education officers to take action on these schools.

A notice asking for explanation has been issued to these schools. Admissions for 723 primary schools & kindergartens for the academic year 2014-15 were cancelled.  

The director for primary education, Mr. R. Elangovan, has instructed the district primary education officers to initiate action to get the students of these 723 schools to admitted to the government approved schools in the same locality..Details of 723 schools to be released soon

The detailed district-wise list of all cancelled schools will be sent to the respective district primary education officers. The details are expected by the end of April r or start of May.
