Ripon Building - Core Hub of the Poll Activities in Chennai!

The civic body, state administration and election commission conjointly put their hands in making arrangements in carrying out the Lok Sabha elections on 24 April, smoothly in Chennai.

Nearly 12,805 electronic voting machines (EVMs) are all set in their drive centers and by Wednesday afternoon, these EVMs will get moved to their respective poll stations, all over three parliamentary electorates in Chennai.

The Chennai Corporation`s headquarters, Ripon Building acts a core hub for all the poll activities mainly for stacking up the electoral rolls of voters, enduring voting inks and poll forms.

All EVMs have been twofold randomized and now the polling stations and machines have been finalized and the respective buttons needs to be set for every poll unit, a senior corporation official said.

Exceptional in Tamil Nadu, the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) will be implemented in Central Chennai constituency. If voters are in uncertainty about their registered vote, they can press on the VVPAT button and they can view the party symbol for nearly seven seconds via a glass window and the printout of the image will be kept hold of in the unit.

Web cameras have been launched at 1,280 polling stations and it will be supervised from the control room at the Ripon Buildings.
