The popular online automation service IFTTT (If This Then That) is now available for Android devices. The app lets a user automate variety of tasks ranging from sending an email to getting a weather notification to even backing up files on Dropbox and more. The main goal of the is to increase productivity and save time on daily mundane tasks.
The launch of the IFTTT Android app was announced on its official website. The app is offering six new Android specific channels which include device settings, location, notifications, SMS, phone calls. The Android users will now be able to upload images to their Dropbox account. The app will automatically set up a users’ Instagram picture as the wallpaper on their device.
A user can automate the app in such a manner that whenever the user has a missed called the app will send a text message to the concerned person. In case the missed call is from a specific number then the app will send an email. Not only that, users can also automate the app to turn on the lights when they are near to their home.
The app’s notification channel will keep the user updated with latest happenings. For example, if the user’s favourite team is starting a game then a notification will appear on the smartphone. The user can also set up the channel to get weather notifications.
Android version of IFTTT will minimize the reliance of users on web apps to automate their tasks. The app will run only on those devices which has Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher. It can be used on Android tablets and smartphones.
