During the summer vacation, there is always amanifold increase in the number of devotees visitng Tirupathi for a ‘darsahan’ of Lord Venkateshwara’. The Tirmala-Tirupathi Devasthanam has taken extensive steps to provide all facilities for these devotees.
As an important measure, a temporary roof has been put up in all 4 corridor streets. A red carpet has been laid out on all 4 avenues to protect the feet of devotees from the heat. Water carried in lorries is frequently poured over the red carpets to keep them wet.
In the Vaikundam avenue where the devotees wait for the Lord’s drashan, mats woven from ‘vetti ver’ (perennial grass) are hung over the sides to protect from the hot sun.
Food packets, drinking water, buttermilk, and milk are readily available for the devotees.Arrangements have been made to provide ‘mobile toilets’ across various locations in Tirupathi. Medical centres are also put up at different locations for attending to the devotees whenever required. Mobile medical vehicles will also be roving around.
The devasthanam has joined with the Police department to make all safety & security arrangements for the multitude of devotees expected to visit Tirupathi during summer vacation. In addition, students groups from National Cadet Corps and ‘Srivari sevaks’, and other service agencies counting to more than 10000 will be readily available to serve the devotees for security and other help.
Depending on the number of arriving devotees, the Devsthanam in conjunction with Andhra Pradesh State Transport will organise additional buses between Tiurmalai & Tirupathi.
