India’s first credit card, ‘RuPay’ has arrived on the scene!
‘RuPay’ was inaugurated by the president, Mr. Pranab Mukherji yesterday (8th May).
RuPay can be used for shopping and cash withdrawal from ATMs.
All major shops all over the country accept RuPay.
RuPay is a prepaid card. This is from National Payments Corporation of India, an institution with no profit motive and supported by the Reserve Bank of India as.
Different types of RuPay cards will be introduced gradually. For ‘Kisan card’ will be for the farmers and agriculturists. Indian Railways is set to introduce a card for train travel reservations.
Apart from the ATM cards issued by several banks, most credit cards are issued by foreign countries.
This si the first ever time that India’s own credit payment card is introduced.
VISA & MasterCard are both from the United States of America.
