Owing to the increasing overload troubles, there have been increased power cuts in evening times across Chennai. There are nearly 27 lakh power consumers in Chennai and its nearby areas. This contributes to 2500 to 3000 MW power of the total demand for power across the state. As of now, over 165 auxiliary units are set up in and around Chennai. Power is distributed to the consumers via cables or wirings.
