Now get Encumbrance certificate online

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa has opened a new facility to apply for the encumbrance certificate on registration department`s website. Residents will no longer have to pay a fee to get encumbrance certificate of property. The online facility , set up at a cost of Rs 58 lakh, will help residents verify details of a property in a hassle-free manner.
 
Earlier, applicants had to pay a fee and apply at sub-registrar offices to obtain encumbrance certificates which are necessary during purchase of land.
