Additional Car Parking Facility at Kamarajar Port!

Currently, Kamarajar port holds coal, and thus it acts as the Chennai Port’s chief profit producing cargo. Additionally, Kamarajar port proposes to construct surplus car parking amenity that can lodge 4000 vehicles at a stretch. Also the port situated at Ennore will become a substitute to Chennai port for car exports.

On Friday, during his speech at the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry Structured trade rally in the city, the Kamarajar Port’s Corporate Planning and Business Development General Manager R. Senthil Kumar said that the tender for framing additional car parking facility will be called soon and it will be function in 18 months of time.

By now, we are having a massive car parking facility which can put up 10,000 cars at a time. Also more than 2,500 cars will also be parked close to the shipping area. Addition to it, we are soon introducing the parking facility of more than 4000 more cars, said, M. A. Bhaskarachar, CMD of Kamarajar Port.

Regarding the widening proposals, he added that, the port had already honored agreements for expansion of container terminal, multi-cargo berth, second private coal terminal and third coal terminal for TANGEDCO and all these were anticipated to be in hand by 2016.
