Commissioning Affordable Dormitories for Passengers with Tickets- Chennai Corporation

In the start of this week, the Chennai Corporation officials will involve themselves in looking for the locations near Central and Egmore railway stations and also near the Broadway and Koyambedu bus terminus for facilitating the inexpensive stay that offer several assistance for commuters who put forward a copy of their tickets.
These subsidized amenities will remain open for the passengers who fetch their bus or train tickets and it not mend for passengers who travels by sophisticated means namely luxury car, aircraft and so on, said the corporation official.

This affordable dormitory will house nearly 10,000 passengers every day and an ostensible daily charge is expected to be Rs.10 per each passenger. Hence screening of tickets is likely to avert misuse of the facilities. Shortly, the State government will involve in taking the final decision.

In the upcoming months, any tourist or guest to the Chennai city will entail less than Rs.20 daily for a decent restful stay along with the healthy food available at the ‘Amma Canteens’.

Amma Canteens offers idli at Re.1, Chapatti at Rs.3 and Curd rice at Rs.3. With its affordable prices, it magnetizes many passengers, said Corporation officials. 

For the implementation of this welfare scheme, Corporation officials generated a list of land that involves, 55 grounds of land near Broadway bus stand, 47 grounds of land on Basin Bride, 3.95 acres of land on Anna Pillai Street and 35 grounds of land near Mint.
