Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reconstituted six important Cabinet committees, including the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs.
The other two — cabinet committee on parliamentary affairs and cabinet committee on accommodation —would be headed by home minister Rajnath Singh.
The appointments committee of cabinet will have only two members — prime minister and home minister.
The all-important cabinet committee on security headed by prime minister, will have home minister, external affairs Sushma Swaraj, finance and defence minister Arun Jaitley as its members. Cabinet committee on economic affairs and cabinet committee on parliamentary affairs will have special invitees as there are several ministers of state with independent charge heading key economic portfolios.
Cabinet committee on accommodation headed by Rajnath Singh will have Jaitley, parliamentary affairs minister Venkaiah Naidu and shipping minister Nitin Gadkari as members,
Apart from prime minister, CCEA includes cabinet ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Jaitley, Naidu, Gadkari, Sadananda Gowda, Ashok Gajapati Raju, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Harsimrat Kaur and Radha Mohan Singh.
Special invitees to CCEA are ministers of state for coal and power, commerce and industry and petroleum.
The cabinet committee on political affairs will include Najma Heptullah, Ramvilas Paswan, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Gajapati Raju, Anant Geete and Harsimrat Kaur of Akali Dal.
