Mixed Rice Plan in Schools Across Tamil Nadu!

Based on the testing done on 3 schools, the ‘Mixed Rice’ plan is getting introduced in schools across Tamil Nadu.

In Tamil Nadu for the past 30 years, nearly more than 50 lakhs students are getting benefited by the ‘Nutrition Program’ over the schools.

Right from the beginning students are getting the same type of food and hence Tamil Nadu government has taken its initiative to bring in modulations in the food chart based on the Children current requirements and their likings.

Nearly 13 types of mixed rice’s are getting introduced in all the nutrition centres across TamilNadu.

Accordingly, Vegetable Biriyani, Bisibellabath, Sambar rice, Tamarind rice, Lemon rice, Chana pulao, Curry Leaf rice, Meal maker  and vegetable rice, tomato rice have been introduce in the food menu. In addition four types of egg dishes namely Omelet, Egg Podimass, Egg Fry, boiled egg will be served to the children in the weekdays.

About 20 chief culinary arts professionals have been selected and they will be giving training to the nutrition staffs across 32 districts in Tamil Nadu.

All over Tamil Nadu, the Budget appraisal for the fiscal year 2013-2014, a fund of about Rs.1588, 65 Crores has been allotted for this nutrition plan.

To execute this mixed rice plan, sample 3 schools in each district have been selected and testing has been done. Tamil Nadu government has proposed the order for the execution of this plan in all the schools.
