On Tuesday, the city traffic police fashioned additional greener corridor to carry a heart from Government General Hospital to Frontier Lifeline Hospital in Mogappair.
The heart organ has been carried via ambulance wrapping a distance of 13km within 10 minutes of time. In eight days, this is the second such medical miracle and the sixth operation accounted for this year.
The organ was reaped from a 45 year old man from Tambaram who was stated brain dead on Tuesday, after he endured head damage in a fall. Government hospital directed his parents all through the day and got their permission to bestow his organs.
At once the organ harvest starts at GH around 9pm; police pilot vehicle and an ambulance were set ready.
The ambulance on track at 11.06pm and arrived at the target by 11.16pm, after desertion through more than 20 intersections. There were no interruptions, said S Sivanandan, deputy commissioner of police.
Since it is night time, we arranged few diversions to shun the main road, said M Selvaraj, inspector at GH police station.`
The ambulance travelled via EVR Sampath Road, Ega theatre, Nelson Manikam Road, Park Road and J J Colony to arrive at the target hospital. The donor`s kidneys were transplant to a GH patient, whilst his liver was set to a patient in MIOT hospital.
