About 440 Open Space Reserves (OSR), has been acknowledged by the Chennai Corporation to give rise to 100 new parks across the city.
Open land lists have been put forward by the officials. Currently, field officers in all the targeted fifteen zones involved in surveying the spots that are in a want for a park. Officials concentrate more in the comprehensive areas of the city such as Ambattur, Tiruvottiyur, Sholinganallur and Madhavaram, said a senior corporation official.
As the first phase of work, we will be focusing the maintenance and up gradation of the existing parks. Once the land spots are endorsed, the land and estate department will conquest the land. Soon, the work will begin in September, he added.
Delhi ranks top with the count of 15,000 parks then follows Mumbai with 1,300 parks, Bangalore with 721 parks and Hyderabad with 709 parks. To get added in this list, Chennai Corporation focuses its work to achieve at least 560 parks across the Chennai city by March, 2015.
However, this would augment the green coat over the city as further plants and trees are liable to be planted.
Also, the corporation has publicized that it will relocate the fully grown trees to a new fresh locations. We need not have to hang on for years for growing a new tree and it will also seem arty in few locations, an official said.
