Velachery will receive a major infrastructure boost this year, with the highways department planning to start work on two new elevated roads and a skywalk in the locality that is expected to soon become one of the city’s busiest hubs.
One of the elevated roads will come up along Velacherry Main Road at a cost of Rs 400 crore as a lot of land needs to be acquired for it, highways department officials said. The other will be built in nearby Medavakkam at an estimated cost of Rs 125 crore.
