Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Ms. Jayalalithaa announced that the place known as Kadambur, with 222 acres of land, located near Maraimalainagar, will be developed into a full-fledged self-supported township in order to arrest the migration to Chennai.
Maraimalainagar, a rapidly growing industrial centre, with a number of multi-national car manufacturers, is already a hot realty place. The town and its surrounding areas are today hailed as `New Chennai`.
In the Kadambur Township, plots will be allotted for low-income group category, middle-income group category and high-income group category. People belonging to weaker sections of society will also be allotted houses.
A 58-acre lake in Kadambur village will have recreation facilities. Thus the environment in and around the township will also be stabilised. The project has been put on fast track.
