ELIGIBILITY MARKS FOR ENGINEERING ADMISSION TO BE REDUCED

The government has decided to lower the total marks required in Class 12 for admission to bachelor`s degree courses in engineering, Higher Education Minister K. Ponmudy told the Assembly on Thursday. The Minister announced this while replying to a query by S. Peter Alphonse (Congress). There were many representations from engineering colleges as more than 30,000 seats remained vacant last year.
It will be good decision on the part of the Government to take these initiatives. There are every possibility that a students who scores low mark in the school, could learn out of that and could probably do better than the students who scored better. Between 14 years and 18 years, transformation in a person takes place so fast that the person at 14 years of age could well become a totally changed person in terms of attitude towards his life. In fact it should be 50% average in the science subjects to be eligible for admission to Engineering course. A good educational institution can help the student to perform well through proper Course planning  and counseling, Personality development, and career planning trainings
