The Supreme Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu Government to allocate more seats for the general sections (OC) in admission for medical colleges.
4 students had filed a case that the existing 69% reservation quota implemented by Tamil Nadu government has unduly affected the Open Community Students trying to get admissions to engineering & medical colleges.
This case was taken up in the Supreme Court today. On hearing, the Supreme Court has ordered the Tamil Nadu government to allocate more seats for general group affected by the 69% quota enforced in Tamil Nadu.
The Supreme Court also recorded that the case cannot be transferred to National Constitution Section under prevailing conditions. It has asked for explanation from Tamil Nadu government within 4 weeks and from the students within 2 weeks.
