Plans to improve quality of engineering education: 13 colleges to benefit – Info from Director, IIT Chennai!

The director of IIT Chennai, Mr. Bhaskar Ramamurthy informed that there is a new plan jointly with CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) to improve the quality of engineering education.

 The central ministry of Human Welfare decided to improve the quality of engineering education all over the country. A special committee was formed comprising of IIT professors and technology experts, etc for this purpose.

The committee along with the help of the Indian Institutes of technologies will implement the plan of improvement of quality of engineering education.

Director of IIT Chennai informed:

Lectures will be given by eminent & experienced professors from IITs Chennai, Delhi, and Kanpur for the engineering students through video conferencing.

The engineering students of 3rd & final years can interact with the above lecturers to clear their doubts and other questions.

In the 1st stage, the plan is executed in 125 engineering colleges across the country involving 45000 students. Students from 13 engineering colleges from Tamil Nadu will benefit by this.

The plan is executed jointly with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII).

The plan will be helpful to prepare the students to be job-ready.

The president of the quality improvement plan, Mr. Jhunjhunwala informed that 17 lakhs students are passing out from engineering colleges every year. The plan, with application of latest technology, intends to make the student ready to take up jobs.

In addition to the regular engineering subjects, training in conversational English and training in the computer language, ‘python’ will be given.

Ex-director of CII, Mr. Santhanam, informed that there is a rather large gap between the industry and the graduating engineering students. This plan will reduce this gap.
