The director for primary education has ordered that higher qualifications obtained without proper prior permission will not be valid for incentive.

All teachers working in government and government-aided schools get an incentive if they have higher qualifications than the expected minimum.

A teacher is eligible to get 2 increments in his service period.

An incentive is equivalent to the amount of 2 annual increments. A n increment is the amount equivalent to 3% of (basic + DA).

For example, if a teacher is working in the post with minimum expected qualification (of graduation), has completed Master’s degree or post-graduation, an incentive will be given. When the teacher completes M. Ed., he/she gets the 2nd incentive.

As per the prevailing system, a teacher qualified for 2 incentives will get Rs. 1,668/- extra.

Working teachers will have to obtain permission from the higher authorities to pursue post-graduate studies. Primary school teachers have to get permission from Assistant Primary education Officer and teachers in school education department will have to get permission from the respective headmasters.

Until now, even those who did not get prior permission to pursue higher studies were also given incentive.

The new order rules that additional qualifications obtained without prior permission from the concerned authorities will NOT be considered for incentive. This order has been circulated to all district primary education officers.

If incentives are given bypassing this order, legal action will be taken on the concerned authorities.

.This order has shocked and awed the primary & middle level school teachers. They have requested that those who are right now pursuing higher education without prior permission can be exempted from this order. It can be followed in the future.
