RBI Governor, Mr. Raghuram Rajan has expressed that the ’100 days employment opportunity scheme’ alone cannot be held responsible for the rise in the salary of village workers. There are other reasons such as rise in the minimum price offered for the produce.

There are other reasons such as the agricultural employees switching over to construction works, a lot of village women getting into educational institutions, etc.

RBI governor was answering to the general complaints received that the rise in the salary of rural workers was due only to  ‘The Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Scheme’, also known as ‘100 days Employment Opportunity Scheme’.
