The central government is set to release an announcement that the requirement of ‘Police Verification’ will no longer be required for those who apply for passports or those who are joining government services.
A self-declaration will be all that is required.
The BJP government led by the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, has been announcing introduction of several bold changes on government procedures.
One of the recent measure taken is that no certificates attested by gazetted officers or public notaries will be required while seeking jobs or information from the government. A self-declaration will be sufficient.
This was relief as there were expenses and unnecessary travel involved in obtaining attestation from gazetted officers/public notaries.
As the next step, the central government has declared that the procedure of ‘Police Verification’ will no longer be required for those applying for passports or seeking information from the government.
Instead, the passport applicants or those who are joining government jobs can now give only a self-declaration. By this procedure, it is naturally expected that a lot of unnecessary time, travel, expenses and corruption can all be avoided.
However, this has not yet been released. The government has planned to release this after obtaining feedback from all concerned departments.
The Department of government employees & welfare, who recommended this action, will be monitored and then the announcement will be made.
