Chennai doesn’t seem attractive to multinationals

Multinationals pointing themselves as a belonging of Chennai is nothing new. They say, they launch their brand new car for the very first time in Chennai and next target is to launch at New Delhi.

Phil Spender, former Managing Director and President, Ford India, in a recent interview said the company belonged to Chennai and so all activities of the company take place here. Former Managing Director of Michelin India Tamil Nadu Tyres, Nicolas Beaumont refers his company belongs to Tamil Nadu as much as it belongs to France. There was a similar statement from the Hyundai head too.

Now, its time for all the three companies slew their view from Chennai to other cities. Ford is shifted to New Delhi from Chennai, as the company is eyeing on bringing efficacious control over Indian operations right from the central location.

The Michelin has also moved out from Chennai city, but the reason is left unknown. This seems to be a sign that Chennai city lost its attractiveness in drawing talents towards it.
