Do you need to keep sitting for long hours at one place in your occupation? please read on!

Most of the jobs in the prevailing trend compel us to remain tied to a chair most of the working hours.

This habit leads to a series of physical problems such as tension, back-ache, indigestion, etc.

·         As soon as you occupy your chair at the start of the work, keep your eyes closed & relax your mind for a minute. This practice will certainly reduce some tension. This one minute relaxation can help freshen up & reduce the morning tension.

·         Please ensure that your chair is properly designed to release your body heat generated while working. If there are no holes provision in the chair, fold a ‘Turkey’ towel into 4 layers and keep it on the chair while you sit. Keep changing the folding of the towel every few hours to help release the absorbed body heat.

·         Please don’t bend your back while sitting. Keep a straight back and ensure that your full back is in contact with the back of the chair. Rather than keeping your feet on the floor, it is advisable to keep them on  a support with higher base. This will prevent back-ache.

·         Muscles tend to get stiff if you sit continuously for a long duration. So, stretch and bend your hands & legs every now & then. Relax your head by leaning on all sides. Ensure that you exercise your body by having a break at the stroke of every hour by drinking water, washing your face, or walking a short distance.

·         If you work on a computer, looking at the monitor screen for continuous long hours may lead to irritation in the eye. When you feel tired in the eye, close them for a few seconds, cover it with one hand, and then cover this hand with the other hand.  This makes for total darkness for the eyes which will reduce the fatigue coming from watching bright spot for long hours. You can also try rolling your eyes up & down, back & forth twice or thrice during the day.

·         As this kind of job provides no scope for physical exercise/exertion, avoid oil-fried food snacks in the evening. This will prevent indigestion.
