A special camp will be conducted between 15th October & 10th November for inclusion & issue of Voter ID.
A meeting was conducted yesterday at the office of the Chennai Collector, presided by The Tamil Nadu Election Commission Chief, Mr. Praveen Kumar regarding the preparation of new voters’ ID list & checking the existing one.
After the meeting, Mr. Praveen Kumar informed:
A special camp is planned in Tamil Nadu between 15th October & 10th November for the preparation of the new Voter ID list. Individuals who have attained 18 years of age as on 1st January, 2015, can apply for the new voter ID.
Further, those who have not registered in the voter ID, those who want to register change of address or correction of address & other details can also apply.
Special camps are scheduled in 65000 polling centres all over Tamil Nadu.All new applicants will be given new voter Ids with colour photographs on 25th January, National Voters’ Day.
Over 12 Lakh individuals had applied for new voter ID during last May. They will be issued colour –photo voter Ids before the end of this month.
There are no immediate plans for any change for the holders of black & white voter Ids. Changing into colour-photo Ids will be discussed & decided later.
